The first trailer for the Jason Lei Howden-directed action-comedy Guns Akimbo turns everything way past eleven.
In the film, Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter, Horns, The Woman in Black, Victor Frankenstein) has a gun bolted to each of his hands as he gets forced into being the next contestant in SKIZM, an underground gang that live-streams real-life death matches.
SKIZM kidnaps his girlfriend and blackmails him into dueling with the unstoppable Nix, a supremely badass killer that’s played by Bloody Disgusting favorite Samara Weaving (Ready or Not), who looks like a mix between Harley Quinn and Joker in Suicide Squad. The footage is absolutely bananas, reminding me of the nonstop fun of Crank that doesn’t give a fuck about anything but having a good time.
Bloody Disgusting’s Rafael Motamayor reviewed the film out of its TIFF World Premiere and called it a “high energy” film that “delivers fun, dumb video game action.”
Guns Akimbo opens in select theaters on February 28, 2020.
