Blood-Splattered Action Served Up With “Cheese Fries” Over “One Bad Night” [World of Death]
Amigos, hola! Welcome back to the World of Death. It’s been a while since I rapped at ya. Remember when we used to watch movies in movie theaters? Those days were pretty wild. Luckily, World of Death is chock full of 219 episodes of streaming independent horror movies just waiting to be discovered… including August’s episode! It’s almost like WOD somehow anticipated all this…
Director Alec Gibbons heads up the episode with One Bad Night, which spins a revenge tale about a mysterious woman (Miss Sandra Mhlongo) who wakes up left for dead in the desert and makes her way to a small town to pay a visit to those who wronged her. It kinda reminded me of Kill Bill: Volume 2 without the snakes and kung fu. It’s good though! It’s also 15 minutes long, so there’s a lot of it to ogle.
And stealing the show this month is Cheese Fries by midwestern filmmaker Joe Zerull. This movie is f*$king sweet. This is a taught five-minute film that feels more like a blistering three-chord punk song with massive hooks around every corner and a chorus you won’t soon forget. If Joe Zerull had a twitter I’d follow him (wtf Joe?!). The pitch; A used and abused waitress of a small-town diner gets more than she bargained for one night. Hell, everyone gets more than they bargained for in this film. I’ll go right out and say it; Cheese Fries is better than Blair Witch (2016).
Best of luck to everyone out there navigating the apocalypse. Until we meet again, take care of yourselves and each other. Rock over London, Rock on Chicago!

Anna Faris & Regina Hall Promise ‘Scary Movie’ Will “Offend Everyone;” New Images Revealed
The Wayans are out to cancel the Cancel Culture with Scary Movie, and the cast assures it will do just that.
“They sort of have an across-the-board style,” Anna Faris tells EW. “It’s always been a part of the Wayans Brothers, their electricity. ‘Can we offend you? Will you still love us? Come on, you still love us, don’t you?'”
Regina Hall concurs, promising the “boundary-pushing” sixth installment in the horror parody franchise will “offend everyone.”
EW has shared a batch of behind-the-scenes images from Scary Movie, which hits theaters June 5 via Paramount.
Faris and Hall are joined by fellow franchise favorites Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Dave Sheridan, Lochlyn Munro, Cheri Oteri, Chris Elliott, and Jon Abrahams in the legacy sequel.
The ensemble includes Damon Wayans Jr., Gregg Wayans, Kim Wayans, Benny Zielke, Cameron Scott Roberts, Heidi Gardner, Olivia Rose Keegan, Ruby Snowber, Savannah Lee Nassif, Sydney Park, Kenan Thompson, and Felissa Rose.
Michael Tiddes (A Haunted House) directs from a script by Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, original Scary Movie director Keenen Ivory Wayans, Craig Wayans (Scary Movie 2), and Rick Alvarez (A Haunted House).
The film will slash through reboots, remakes, requels, prequels, sequels, spin-offs, elevated horror, origin stories, anything with the word legacy in it, and every “final chapter” that absolutely isn’t final.
Scary Movie launched in 2000, followed by Scary Movie 2 in 2001. The Wayans’ involvement ended there, but the series continued with 2003’s Scary Movie 3, 2006’s Scary Movie 4, and 2013’s Scary Movie 5.
