Spanish Horror Comedy ‘Witching and Bitching’ Begins Production
Alex de la Iglesia, Spain’s most prominent black comedy helmer, has teamed with powerful Spanish producer Enrique Cerezo on horror laffer Las Brujas de Zugarramurdi (Witching and Bitching), in what looks to be one of the country’s flagship productions for 2013, reports Variety.
“The pic turns on a robber band trying to flee to France after purloining 25,000 gold rings from a Spanish city. A curse falls on them and they fall into the clutches of the witches of the Navarrese town of Zugarramurdi.”
Witching‘s ensemble cast boasts some of Spain’s biggest film and TV stars, such as Mario Casas (“I Want You”), Hugo Silva (“Sex, Parties and Lies”) and Carmen Maura, who earned a best actress award at San Sebastian in 2000 for her role in “Commonwealth.” Further cast members are Terele Pavez, Carolina Bang, Secun de la Rosa, Pepon Nieto and Jaime Ordonez.
According to De la Iglesia, Witching is a mix of his 1995 groundbreaking hit The Day of the Beast with multi-awarded 2000 comedy Commonwealth. “It is an outrageous comedy, in the line of ‘It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World,’ but a horror comedy,” De la Iglesia explained.
Rolling from October 1 on location in Zugarramurdi for two weeks, the production will continue for seven more weeks in Madrid.

It’s Official: Ryan Gosling Playing ‘Ghost Rider’ in MCU Movie Being Directed by Shawn Levy
Ryan Gosling (Project Hail Mary) has made no secret of the fact that he’d love to play Ghost Rider in a Marvel Cinematic Universe movie, and it’s now officially happening.
Announced by Marvel out of San Diego Comic-Con tonight, Ryan Gosling will play the iconic Marvel character in a Ghost Rider movie being directed by Shawn Levy!
Expect Ryan Gosling to play Ghost Rider on the big screen in 2028.
Johnny Blaze is of course the most iconic and well-known Ghost Rider, selling his soul to Satan and becoming a supernatural badass. Nicolas Cage brought Blaze to life on screen in both 2007’s Ghost Rider and 2011’s Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, while Gabriel Luna more recently played the Robbie Reyes version of Ghost Rider in the series “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”
Luna was set to star in his own Ghost Rider spinoff series in the wake of that small screen appearance, but that Hulu project ended up being squashed before it ever had a chance.
Fans have been waiting for Ghost Rider to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe for many years now, with Ryan Gosling making it clear that he’d love to bring the character back to life.
That Hollywood dream is coming true. Stay tuned for more as we learn it.
