so i was searching through the movies and events section onDemand (comcast) and in the “Just in” category under “in theaters” i found Dead snow.
i was very excited to spend the $7.99 to watch it in HD. Dead snow this Norwegian independent release stood out very much. now for everyone that thinks this is your cliche zombie flick, i can assure you that you are wrong for thinking that way. this movie proved me wrong. here is a short review.

It all opens with a group of friends traveling out to a remote mountain location where they stay in a cabin. these friends are all medical students, going out to the wilderness to seek some adventure. as the movie progresses they meet a man whom is also traveling through. he lets the group know that they should stay away from the mountain. apparently that was the location for a Nazi outpost, the local legend is that the former village attacked the 300 Nazi soldiers in the middle of the night and only a smaller group of Nazis made their escape, retreating to the mountains in which led to their ultimate doom…or so they thought

one of the young doctors in the group finds a small box filled with treasure, this treasure is what Causes the Nazis to come back from the dead (kind of like Pirates of the carribean but not pg-13) almost as if they were cursed until the treasure is found. moving much faster stronger and far more intelligent than your average zombie, these Nazis stop at nothing to get what is rightfully theres

so when the group starts to notice that something isn’t right it was too late, the Nazis have already honed in on there location.
These Nazi “Zombies” hunt down the group, a series of very unique Kill scenes follow, some very disturbing some very humorous. ultimately
the group tries to stay alive but they were terribly out numbered.
that’s really all in a nutshell. you will have to see the movie for yourself to pass your judgment. i enjoyed the movie because it was very different, also if you do have comcast ondemand than you will watch the film in an English dubbed version which isn’t bad at all. thanks for reading my small review sorry there isn’t any spoilers, i don’t have a whole lot of time to write it all out.

Really slow and uninteresting up until the Nazi Zombies show up… I gotta say, in the history of all time, Nazis have ALWAYS had the COOLEST uniform, and the only way to make them COOLER is to put ZOMBIES in them.

    A refreshing back-to-the-old-days zombie movie.
I enjoyed watching zombies in broad day light. Got used to blurry fuzzy picture, and this movie had a much better picture. Also had a few funny moments, and the ‘usual gags’.
    GR8 ending.

DEad Snow was incredible. It was so original and so fresh on a genre that has been so original for the past 50 years. It was bloody, it was scary, and it was amazing. One of the best zombie movies i have ever seen and obviously best nazi-zombie movie ever made. i recommend it to any zombie lover because you are in for a bloody treat.

This is the best, zombie horror movie I have ever seen. It is too amazing to describe. Gore drenched, with gallons of blood knocked around everwhere, and some great makeup effects, and some superb acting. Dead Snow is incredible, the dark, humourous sections, and the suspensful, heart pounding atmospheric scenes of terror, with horrible looking zombies and some amazing decisions, with a hint of comedy to lighten up the feel of the movie. Dead Snow is the goriest movie I have seen in a good long time. Chainsaws, Shotguns, hammers, branches, knives, you name it. Gory action, stunning visuals and a great cast, Dead Snow is a much watch for EVERY zombie horror fan, and horror fanatic!

    10/10

Definitely a better movie than I had originally expected. The effects were good and the acting was decent. If only they had decided to either keep it entirely serious or make it entirely tongue in cheek than it would have been even better. Still a fun movie to watch though.

Nazi zombies. Gotta love it. Enjoyed the movie. The zombies were cool( I got a chill when the leader says,”Arise”) but the characters kind of irritating. The comedy aspect was kind of flat but some definite chuckles to be had. Overall definite recommend but as far as zombie Nazis(or ghosts if you will) Outpost is a better move.

Dead Snow insults one of my favorite movies of all time by trying to re-live the legendary Shaun of the Dead. Zero wit whatsoever. And shame on the directors for copying that camera trick that Edgar Wright uon the part when the dude lit his torch.

And I do not seriously get why the movie geek dies the stupidest death in the film. He mentions movies like Friday the 13th and Evil Dead 1 and 2 in the opening scenes, yet he dies from a cliche. When the zombies were able to knock of the furniture barricading the window, the so-called movie geek WALKS TOWARDS IT…. Then the zombies grab him and he dies. I think Ima stick to French horror.

This movie is solid. I think the concept could have been exploited much better actually, but the acting while not terrible isn’t really very interesting either. In any case, dead Nazis chasing people in the snow is pretty cool.

At last a film that lives up to its hype. This is one utterly outrageous comedy horror. Nazi Zombies Vs Medical students. Cue decapitations, disembowelments and machine gun mounted snowmobiles. The gore is wonderfully done for a film on a small budget. I thought I’d seen it all but using intestines as rope was a new one on me. Don’t think that it is all about the gore though. This film spends a long time concentrating on character building. I loved the fact that the makers and cast don’t take themselves too seriously. There are lots of references to other horror movies to look out for. Evil dead in particular. Aside all the action and gore, there are some really laugh out loud comic set Pisces. The Molotov cocktail mishap scene is comedy gold. Please don’t be put off by the fact that it’s a subtitled Norwegian film. I promise you none of the humour is lost in translation. I’ve not enjoyed a zombie movie so much since Zombie Strippers.

for me this film was pretty much a waste of time. But when the all out attacks started this became the best gore comedy since the Evil Dead films. this would of went down as one my favorites if the setup was 90 % shorter.

The story has the usual pack of forgettable dummies going on an excursion to a cabin–just the usual fodder for kills later on. What happens after they arrive at their party cabin is an enjoyable movie with some fun gore-kills. Although I liked the more serious tone of things at the beginning, it was still ok that it took a comedic turn on the bloodletting. While never being laugh out loud kinda humor, there are some amusing moments involving the Nazi zombies. Nice setting with the snowy mountain backdrops and avalanche ready snowpacks, and the ending was pretty good as well. If you take the movie for what it is and don’t pass too much judgement on it in comparison to other zombie flicks, then I am sure this will be very enjoyable for most any horror fan. I borrowed this copy, but now will look to purchase it to add to my collection.

An gory as hell zombie flick that is just as funny as it is thrilling. I had a blast watching this movie from beginning to end and it blows any recent horror/comedy out of the water well maybe not Zombieland but it was close. The movie is pretty predictable and nothing really new but it had so many out of nowhere gore scenes that made my jaw drop that it more than made up for it, if you are squeamish you have been warned. I thought all of the characters were witty and likable but no one was safe in this movie and that was kind of a crazy change of pace in a way but I was still satisfied with the bloody and insane finale. The filming and atmoshere kind of reminds me of the slasher Cold Prey which is also from this country though definitely not as good but it was just as solid and breathtaking when it came to atmosphere as well. Overall this was one kick @ss zombie film and probably the best one I’ll see this year and I highly recommend it if you are fans of Evil Dead, Zombieland, Return Of The Living Dead, Shaun Of The Dead ect. gorehounds will be pleased for sure. Highly entertaining, fun, thrilling and I want to see a sequel to this! A must see!

Not a bad zombie movie for what it was. Parallels Evil Dead a bit in some areas. As a general horror movie, better than the 28 Days series, Cabin Fever series, and completely outdoes Paranormal Activity. Pretty decent ending too.

What’s wrong with the people who don’t like this movie?? How can a horror fan not be entertained by this flick? It is funny and full of tons of gore. What’s not to like? They weren’t trying to make a serious zombie movie. Zombies have to be entertaining and making them Nazi’s is a funny idea. Get off your high horse, let your hair down, and watch this film :)

Ryan Daley is full of shit. Blow off his review, because this is a badaass zombie movie that you need to see and is well worth your time.
This is NOT a comedy-horror movie as portrayed in some reviews.
It’s more like a bunch of wise ass frat dudes showing off for their girlfriends. I believe the filmmaker was trying to make the dialogue for a group of kids believable and not corny. So we’ve got a bunch of kids busting each other’s balls; that’s waaaay different than saying this is an attempt at Shaun Of The Dead humor.
Also, this is not a ripoff of Evil Dead or some other shitty movie. I saw Evil Dead 1 & 2 when they came out at the theatre and they were badass then, but they show their age when you go back and watch now.
The Nazi zombies are gruesome and the zombie makeup is quite good. How would frozen, snow zombies look? They would look exactly like the zombies in this pic. There’s also some kickass dismemberment scenes. Overall, this is very gory and the f/x is top notch. It’s not Tom Savini good, but it’s good.
    Check it out!

This Norwegian comedy/horror/thriller film is a gory/bloody fest o guts & can give you the creeps & scary moments in the film are in dark toned, theme & style. The Movie has a great amount of Black Comedy laughs, its very thrilling in its Thriller & the gore, bloody & death courts are brilliant in the Horror, while it plain on the Storyline/Plot & the back-story, but you can’t doubt on the Comedy, Horror & Thriller in the movie are ace, with the slight action moves in this film. Overall I thought this would have been a bad movie but it turned out really well & I enjoyed it!!.

Really fun horror comedy. Not breaking any ground, but nor is it trying to. The Nazi zombies are cool, the snow landscape is gorgeous and well shot, the actors are fine, and the heaps references to other movies are unabashedly intentional. Dude’s wearing a Braindead shirt the night the zombies arrive. Fun.

I was so surprised from how good this film was! From all the slightly negative reviews, I thought it was gonna be your average forgettable horror film, but it was so much more! You know from the opening with “In The Hall Of The Mountain King” playing that it’s gonna be one hell of a fun ride! AND IT WAS! The sublime snowy landscape was beautiful but also threatening and it was unbelievably gory! So gory that it got to a point where I was saying to myself “OK, OK lets stop now!” But then again, the bloodier the better? A seriously gory, fun, gripping film that shouldn’t be missed! Don’t take it seriously, just sit back and enjoy the incredibly exhilarating ride!

Even though this movie is a fun ride, much of it is mediocre. It shamelessly sticks to every lame horror convention in the book, the fight scenes often didn’t quite satisfy me, and the movie itself can’t seem to decide if it wants to be overtly funny or just campy fun.

What sold me on the movie was its total brutality. I found myself rooting for the characters as they escaped Nazi zombies by the skin on their teeth time and time again, only to watch them still be torn to shreds in gory sequences of spraying blood and guts.

Don’t watch this movie to laugh or see any sort of new spin on the zombie movie. Put it on, let yourself get sunk in, and watch all your favorite characters get brutally fucked up. It’ll be fun, I promise.

For a fun, no brainer, gore fest you really can’t go wrong with “Dead Snow.” It’s predictable, mocks itself with the “who goes to a cabin all alone” conversation at the beginning, and delivers some serious gore along the way. No Academy Awards here, but did you really think you were going to get any? Seriously worth the watch!

    SPOILERS BELOW

The 1st thing that attracted me to this movie was the badass DVD cover. Nazi Zombies??? What a brilliant idea. I was a little bummed after I bought it and realized it wasn’t in English. But I got over it, slipped it in the DVD player, set the subtitles to English, let it rip. I’m really glad I did. This movie is fan dam tastic. The movie starts off a tad slow and it seems like it took forever to see the 1st badass (NZ) Nazi Zombie. The sub titles really weren’t that much of a factor. But the gore was great, the chicks were hot, and the NZ were gruesome, scary, over the top, like they should be. I agree with the BD reviewer, once the daylight hit the NZ, they did lose a little of their scariness. There were a few little quirks that I didn’t like, but that will happen with any movie. 7 out of 10 skulls, I LOVED it.

Official Score: 2.5 / 5
