Lars Von Trier, the Danish director behind Antichrist, will be taking on the apocalypse with Melancholia, an “end of the world” thriller with a so-called apocalypse being caused by Earth colliding with another planet. Deadline revealed today the entire cast starting with the lead, Kirsten Dunst. Charlotte Gainsbourg (Antichrist), Kiefer Sutherland (Lost Boys, Mirrors), Charlotte Rampling (Angel Heart), Alexander Skarsgaard (“True Blood”), Stellan Skarsgard (Exorcist: The Beginning ) and Udo Kier (Suspiria) are also attached. The film will begin shooting in Sweden this July, with a budget of around $8 million. Antichrist was quite a controversial film, it’ll be interesting to see his spin on a disaster film.
