OMFG of the Day: ‘District 9’ Director Neill Blomkamp Goes Viral with Genetic Engineering Horror?

Published

on

Splice was your polished up, Species-esque lesson of what happens when you play God, but District 9 director Neill Blomkamp wants to take the cinema verite approach with his next. A /Film reader tipped them off to the latest online issue of Wired Magazine where a disturbing viral teaser for Blomkamp’s next was hiding. “The video, which you can watch for yourself embedded after the jump, features two young men who discover a dead alien-looking creature in a puddle on the side of a dirt road,” writes the site. “The creature has a circular stamp on its side which reads “18.12 AGM Heartland Pat Pend USA” and the outer circle reads: “US Inspected And Approved”.” You can watch the video below the break and find a bit more info that/Film dug up.
/Film writes: “18.12 is the number of the issue of WiReD that this video appears in. I did some searching and found out that a Beverly Hills-based company named Sable Productions Ltd. filed for the trademark “AGM Heartland” on October 18th 2010. The trademark use is labeled as:

Entertainment services by way of an online website with video, audio and textual content and images featuring characters and storylines about a fictional genetic engineering company that produces genetically engineered and altered organisms.

This is such a wonderful reflection of one of the major questions many of us ask of our government: What’s really going on behind closed doors? And even worse, what are they capable of?

What do you guys think of the video?

It’s Official: Ryan Gosling Playing ‘Ghost Rider’ in MCU Movie Being Directed by Shawn Levy

Published

on

Ryan Gosling (Project Hail Mary) has made no secret of the fact that he’d love to play Ghost Rider in a Marvel Cinematic Universe movie, and it’s now officially happening.

Announced by Marvel out of San Diego Comic-Con tonight, Ryan Gosling will play the iconic Marvel character in a Ghost Rider movie being directed by Shawn Levy!

Expect Ryan Gosling to play Ghost Rider on the big screen in 2028.

Johnny Blaze is of course the most iconic and well-known Ghost Rider, selling his soul to Satan and becoming a supernatural badass. Nicolas Cage brought Blaze to life on screen in both 2007’s Ghost Rider and 2011’s Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, while Gabriel Luna more recently played the Robbie Reyes version of Ghost Rider in the series “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”

Luna was set to star in his own Ghost Rider spinoff series in the wake of that small screen appearance, but that Hulu project ended up being squashed before it ever had a chance.

Fans have been waiting for Ghost Rider to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe for many years now, with Ryan Gosling making it clear that he’d love to bring the character back to life.

That Hollywood dream is coming true. Stay tuned for more as we learn it.
