Leatherface Soaks In His Extreme Chainsaw Collection In This Exclusive ‘Texas Chainsaw 3D’ Image!!

Lionsgate has provided Bloody Disgusting with an incredible new look at Texas Chainsaw 3D, which continues the legendary story of the homicidal Sawyer family, picking up where Tobe Hooper’s 1974 horror classic left off in Newt, Texas, where for decades people went missing without a trace.

The below still depicts Leatherface, played by Dan Yeager, soaking in his collection of chainsaws. Which will he choose for his 2013 victims? Seriously, how excited are you guys for this?!

In theaters January 4, 2013, the slasher is being directed by John Luessenhop from a screenplay by Adam Marcus, Debra Sullivan and Kirsten Elms. Dan Yeager, John Dugan, Bill Moseley, Alexandra Daddario, Sue Rock, Tania Raymonde, Scott Eastwood, Gunnar Hansen, Tobe Hooper, Paul Rae, Keram Malicki-Sánchez, Ritchie Montgomery, Trey Songz, Marilyn Burns, Shaun Sipos, Thom Barry and Richard Riehle star. It’s been rated “R” by the MPAA for “strong, grisly violence and language throughout.

The seventh incarnation taps into Hooper’s classic 1974 film that follows the lead character, Heather, who along with her friends, travel to Texas in order to collect an inheritance. The spin? What would you do if you found out your cousin was Leatherface, and he was now YOURS?

‘Texas Chainsaw 3D’continues the legendary story of the homicidal Sawyer family, picking up where Tobe Hooper’s 1974 horror classic left off in Newt, Texas, where for decades people went missing without a trace. The townspeople long suspected the Sawyer family, owners of a local barbeque pit, were somehow responsible. Their suspicions were finally confirmed one hot summer day when a young woman escaped the Sawyer house following the brutal murders of her four friends. Word around the small town quickly spread, and a vigilante mob of enraged locals surrounded the Sawyer stronghold, burning it to the ground and killing every last member of the family – or so they thought.

Decades later and hundreds of miles away from the original massacre, a young woman named Heather learns that she has inherited a Texas estate from a grandmother she never knew she had. After embarking on a road trip with friends to uncover her roots, she finds she is the sole owner of a lavish, isolated Victorian mansion. But her newfound wealth comes at a price as she stumbles upon a horror that awaits her in the mansion’s dank cellars…

Im sorry but this movie just looks way too polished, too pretty, too clean for a Texas Chainsaw Massacre film. What happened to horror movies that felt dark, gritty, and raw. I mean really, those almost neon green chainsaws…. At least the 2003 remake got the tone right.

    • Alex † Von’Fratt

I think that’s because we live in a new generation filled with better quality according to film-makers now in days?

  • GhostsOfRoute23

Oh shut up and just be greatful even bothering with bringing Leatherface back to theaters. Sometime just be greatful.

    • Alex † Von’Fratt

      I agree.

    • deandean1990

Preach that shit lol, I am super grateful they are bringing him back!

    • lisey

I’ll be GRATEful when Hollywood stops making these bullshit remakes/sequels/reboots and starts making original movies. Who cares if they’re bringing Leatherface back when the movie will undoubtedly be a steaming pile of dog poop?

  • Remember-Slithis

A minor complaint,The Chainsaws look too clean.I can’t wait to see this!

    • Alex † Von’Fratt

I don’t think it won’t look so clean once he’s finished slicing people…

  • djblack1313

he wears his pants high up like Fred Mertz on I LOVE LUCY! lol. but i have no complaints about the chainsaws or it looking too polished. at least we know the chainsaws will be dirty w/ blood/gore soon!:)

  • JoeR

Images are fine but what I really want is a second trailer. Any idea whether there will be one?

  • Zombie-Killa

Finally saw the trailer on the big screen before Sinister. Watching it big the screen provides an unreal feeling, can’t wait until Jan. 4!

And that’s a cool image. It looks like Leatherface is having trouble deciding which weapon to use. lol.

  • Joe-Banger

That guy looks like he could be Leather faces little brother! Just like the guy who played Thor! Their both too small to play such big bad ass dudes! Thor vs. Leather Face, theres an idea for a film. This film looks like it will be fair at best.

  • deadlover

It looks so much like the last remake . . . I mean only remake. . .

  • lovezoid

I note that Leatherface’s family name is referred to as ‘Sawyer’ in this, and that it uses footage from the original. In the remake and its prequel he is ‘Thomas Hewitt’, so I’m guessing this disregards every other TCM film except for the original – much like Robert Rodriguez’s Predators.

What do you even call that? A re-imagining of Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2? A Remaquel? Either way, needs more Dennis Hopper.

I like the mask, but the trailer just looks like same old patronising slasher fare.

  • Joe-Banger

Good thought lovezoid, IMO Dennis Hopper is dead.

    • lovezoid

Hey, a main character being dead never stopped them showing up in a slasher sequel before. Hologram Dennis Hopper?

  • xAshleyMariex

It makes me mad that their calling this a sequel because to me, it looks like a bad copycat of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre :I

  • bambi_lives8980

Hrmm… should I use the chainsaw, the chainsaw, the chainsaw, orr…. the chainsaw?

  • Alex † Von’Fratt

This honestly reminds me of the third TCM…

    • deandean1990

Righhhhtttttttttt…that is exactly what I was thinking!

  • Joe-Banger

Ok another good idea lovezoid! Or get some guy who looks like D H who can act almost as good as him. It would take too long to train someone to be that good for another sequel.

  • WhySoSerious54

Dan Yeager the actor that plays Leatherface is 6’6 270 lbs. He is actually taller and bigger than the actor that played him in the remake. He is a beast!

  • Cozen

Looks like Eddie Vedder…I’d watch even if he played Leath with a purple glow in the dark chainsaw!
