Why Was ‘Resident Evil: The Final Chapter’ Just Delayed?

Published

on

Sony Screen Gems’ Resident Evil: The Final Chapter was secretly about to go into pre-production, apparently.

Milla Jovovich, who stars as Alice in all five Resident Evil films, popped up on Facebook revealing that she was just about to head to South Africa to begin work on the sixth and final film. The delay? Her and writer-director Paul W.S. Anderson are expecting a second child.

Happy Monday everyone!

This was originally going to be a post to tell you how excited I am about flying to Cape Town, South Africa to begin working on Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.

But… My husband Paul and I just discovered that we are expecting another baby!!!]

So after a lot of discussion, we thought it would be in everyone’s best interest to wait till the baby is born before we set out to try and tackle an RE movie. Between the stunt work and what will become my ever-expanding belly, we didn’t think pregnancy and zombie killing are the best combo! Lol! I imagine the only thing I’ll be killing in the near future is an endless supply of cupcakes. Yikes…
In all seriousness though, we want to make the best movie possible and that would be extremely difficult, to say the least, in my present condition.

I would like to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who has been working so hard on the movie in South Africa already and we are so looking forward to working with you all next summer. And when we arrive, it will hopefully be with the newest member of our little family! YAY!

Before I go, i want to also send one more HUGE thank you out to all my amazing fans who have been so patient waiting for the next installment of the RE franchise! YOU ROCK!
Thanks so much for understanding everyone! All the best! -m

It’s a bummer that production is delayed, but at least we know that Screen Gems is ready to move forward on a new Resident Evil. The bad news is that we’re going to have to wait at least 6-7 months before talk of production resumes. In fact, it could change some of the cast, which is rumored to include Wentworth Miller, Sienna Guillory, Bingbing Li, Spencer Locke, Shawn Roberts and Johann Urb.

In it, “Alice, Jill, Claire, Chris, Leon, Ada, and Wesker rush to The Hive, where The Red Queen plots total destruction over the human race.
