Zach Cregger‘s long-awaited revival of the Resident Evil franchise has finally landed in theaters, and to call it a success would be a bit of an understatement. Even before the movie opened in theaters, critical reviews helped solidify it as the best-reviewed video game movie of all time, while its $60-million domestic opening made it the top earner in the entire franchise. The overall positive word of mouth, and the upcoming Halloween season, likely means the experience won’t be leaving theaters anytime soon, allowing audiences to enjoy the experience as big and loud as possible.
Even though its theatrical tenure has only just begun, the good news is that the movie already has a home video release date. Resident Evil is currently slated to hit 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, and DVD on December 15 and it is available for preorder now. At this point, there are currently no announced special features for the disc, though with the various behind-the-scenes featurettes that have already landed online, we can only hope to get a comprehensive deep dive into the experience. Additionally, the movie is confirmed to be getting a SteelBook 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, pictures of which you can see below.
