Huge “The X-Files” Spoiler Regarding Scully and Mulder’s Relationship?

David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson

I’m not sure if this is considered a spoiler or not, but EW just blasted out word that Mulder and Scully have split.

According to the mag, Fox showed reporters at the Television Critics Association’s press tour in Beverly Hills a new clip of the highly anticipated “The X-Files” revivial on Thursday. In the scene, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson’s iconic investigative characters were no longer together—and having a major blow-out fight.

In the clip, Scully describes herself as “your friend and physician” to Mulder. EW checked with a source close to Fox who confirmed that, indeed, the two are no longer together.

Proving that the writers are on top of their conspiracies, in the clip Mulder was trying to convince Scully that a certain un-referenced conspiracy had nothing to do with aliens, but was rather a conspiracy of men.

This is the big conspiracy on website threads – could it all be a hoax? Take a trip down the Google rabbit hole and we’ll talk about it in January.

The presumed dead Lone Gunmen – played by Tom Braidwood, Dean Haglund, and Bruce Harwood – are set to return for an undisclosed arc.

Robbie Amell (“The Flash”) and Lauren Ambrose (Psycho Beach Party) signed on as Agent Miller and Agent Einstein, respectively.

Mitch Pileggi returns as FBI Assistant Director Walter Skinner, while William B. Davis will be back as the iconic Cigarette-Smoking Man in the new short-stack order of 6-episodes. Joel McHale will play Tad O’Malley, a conservative news anchor who becomes an unlikely ally for Fox Mulder (Duchovny).

“The X-Files” is set to return to FOX on January 24th, 2016.
