Entire ‘Resident Evil’ Franchise Getting Steelbook Blu-rays at Best Buy

Care for a double dip, anyone?

On January 27th, Alice returns for her (alleged) final battle in Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, the sixth installment of the hit horror movie franchise that began back in 2002. It’s likely that if you’re a fan of the series you already own the previous five installments on home video, but there’s something to be said for Steelbooks. They’re shiny. And awesome. And, uh, steely.

I mention this because the entire Resident Evil franchise is coming home yet again in the form of individual Steelbook Blu-ray releases, which will be exclusive to Best Buy stores. The new Steelbooks of Resident Evil, Resident Evil: Apocalypse, Resident Evil: Extinction, Resident Evil: Afterlife, and Resident Evil: Retribution will arrive on Best Buy shelves on January 17th.

Each of the films will come packaged with up to $7.50 in movie cash to see Resident Evil: The Final Chapter in theaters, and it looks like they’ll be selling for $17.99 apiece.

Check out the art below and head over to Best Buy’s website to place pre-orders.

They should put this out AFTER the final movie is released.

    • That’s the boxset silly. One thing at a time.

  • Grimphantom

    Oh Whoopie Doo who cares!

    • Creepshow

We should take steaming dumps in metal boxes, and see if people would buy them too. The problem is, if our business endeavor takes off, I can only squeeze out one (maybe two) good products a day.

      • If the demand is there, you can hire more people to produce sequels, remakes, spin-offs, the possibilities are endless.

        • Creepshow

Now that’s thinking! These things have to be taken into consideration, because some days my product isn’t “so solid”. It might help to sub-contract some work out.

If the profit margins aren’t high enough, you can also outsource to China.

  • Jason Scarpelli

    Don’t care. Move on please.

    • J Jett

or YOU could “move on” instead of sounding like a douche.

      • Jason Scarpelli

I’m not the only one in these comments to dislike the idea. Besides why not belittle others as well like the 10 year old you sound like.

  • J Jett

i’m waiting on the extended cut of AFTERLIFE. Milla kind of confirmed many months ago that extended cuts of AFTERLIFE & RETRIBUTION were forthcoming but there’s been no word yet. Milla & the cast even did new commentaries for those 2 films.

    • Matt

Now that would be good news. I know you don’t like ‘Retribution’, but I would double-dip for both of those.

    • Really? When did they say that? I would love to see some extended cuts of both retribution and afterlife.

    • Can you link where this was confirmed?

best buy is doing the same for the underworld movies too

  • disqus_uPh3WDxbQy

    These look gorgeous. Want!

  • Geno1987

Ah yes, each film will have a threatening monster that Alice the Mary Su Director’s Wife will effortlessly destroy in super slo-mo Matrix action scenes represented on each cover displayed. Worth every penny!

Should do a poll what is the biggest piece of shit in the series im going with Afterlife

  • BloodyDisgusting has been filled with trolls. In an article for Resident evil, everyone here is like I do not care, this is shit, crap, fuck that! Well do not come here and complain. Some people like these flicks. I personally rank them high as guilty pleasures. And these steelbooks are nice!

    • JackSkellington

Wait… so your opinion is relevant because it’s favorable and opinions that are not favorable are irrelevant? I get not wanting to hear someone gripe – I’m totally with you there… however differing opinions create dialog and introspection.

      • disqus_uPh3WDxbQy

The problem is not the differing opinions, but the trolling. Some people are blatantly miserable trolls that offer nothing to the conversation, except spewing nonsense.

  • Some of these are alright. Not rushing out to grab them though. I’d rather just get a boxset of blu rays in a few years. Hopefully with these rumored extended cuts & commentaries.

  • horrormaker

i wouldn’t buy these. yes, the covers are neat, but i just bought the 5 movie blu-ray at best buy for 10.99. they have it for 14.99 and i had a 5 dollar gift card. you can’t beat this price. Amazon is also selling the 5 movie boxset on blu-ray for 14.99

  • Richter Belmont

A new trailer for RE: Vendetta was released a week ago. I’m not sure if BD covered it but here it is just in case:

    Rebecca Chambers? Yay!

    • Matt

Looks really good, except that scene where Leon is firing his gun like a “gangsta” (yuck). Looking forward to the DVD/Blu release since I doubt it will be playing here in the U.S. Hopefully they keep making these, I loved the first two.

    • zombie84_41

      well fuck yes

  • Erik The Red

The Afterlife steelbook is the best looking. The steelbook novelty is growing stale. Every movie doesn’t deserve a steelbook. I read Sam Raimi’s Spiderman trilogy is getting steelbooks. Enough. For the record: The last steelbook I bought was The Laika Collection. ParaNorman and Kubo seriously kick ass!

    • zombie84_41

I got a few steelbooks, I agree some movies don’t deserve them. I hate the underworld ones they did, look like garbage. These are sure buy.

    want->sold->loving it!

  • zombie84_41
