We’ve Got the Poster Art for Netflix’s “Castlevania” TV Series!

We. Cannot. Wait.

As we told you earlier this month, the first season of Dredd producer Adi Shankar’s animated “Castlevania” series is headed to Netflix sometime this year, and you guys were as excited as we were when Shankar promised that it would be “super violent” and also “flip the vampire sub-genre on its head.” Ready for your very first sneak peek? You sure? 100% sure? Okay.

Shankar himself just posted the first piece of promotional art for the video game-inspired series over on his Facebook page, which you’ll find in all its crimson glory below!

From Netflix’s press site…

Inspired by the classic video game series, “Castlevania” is a dark medieval fantasy following the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepe himself. The animated series is from Frederator Studios, a Wow! Unlimited Media company, written by best-selling author and comic book icon Warren Ellis and executive produced by Warren Ellis, Kevin Kolde, Fred Seibert, and Adi Shankar.

Please have the ost, please have the ost! Yamashita, Yamane, whatever, just give me some of the classic Castlevania songs with it!

    • Richter Belmont

Yes! Original music or no dice. None of that Lords Of Shadow music either. It was boring and not memorable unlike real Castlevania music.

Nice. I hope that the series will be as dark as this poster.

  • mtaffer

Warren Ellis? Yeah this will be dark.

  • Q Bert

I need it to look good. And be bloody and gory and show tits and ass and include bloody tears theme music as well as some crazy shit and still faithful to the video game ip

  • Grimphantom

A bit late you know…….i’m still waiting when they show design of the characters.

    • Flu-Like Symptoms

Same here. That will be the determining factor for me if I’ll watch it. If the characters are medieval badasses, game on. If it’s that anime shit that the series eventually went to, I’ll pass.

  • Blk Mgc Maverick

Whoa they got an actual writer for this? Warren fucking Ellis! Definitely in.

    • The One and Only

He wrote the Marvel Anime series, Iron Man, X-Men, Wolverine, and Blade. He also wrote the JUSTICE LEAGUE UNLIMITED episode “Dark Heart”.

      • Blk Mgc Maverick

Uh…dude, I know who Warren Ellis is. I’ve been reading comics for a couple of decades now. His original stuff like Transmetropolitan and Plantetary is was way better than his stories at Marvel btw. Well, in my opinion.

  • Sean Robert Hart

Anyone else see the add 5 dating sites that work? God that girls face looks like a sponge makes my trypophobia kick in. Thats the scariest thing on BD

  • Hector Cadavid

Is it me or that’s the castle of symphony of the night???

  • THGrimm

    Ugh! I’m so excited!!

  • Geno1987

What is a man? A miserable pile of secrets!

  • John Connor

All I know is that Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest is the most atmospheric 8 bit game I’ve ever played.

    • Flu-Like Symptoms

It’s my personal fav of the series.

      • Master99

Same here. 30 years later and I still remember all the music from the game and even catch myself whistling the end credits music sometimes.

  • sliceanddice

had no idea add shanker was involved in this. boom – now I’m interested!

  • Abandoned_Being

I’m looking forward to watching this.

  • Adaaification

When the studio let Warren Ellis have free hand on everything, then we will get a dark, gritty, controversial and bloody masterpiece. The Authority and Transmetropolitan are milestones, but not his best work but the best work that got mention in the main stream.

  • Nahuel Benvenuto

this can be epic and a milestone on game adaptations, please dont fuck it up

  • this needs to be super dark and super violent. My hopes are so high!

  • marklola12 .

don’t give a crap about animated stuff

  • Darth_Siskel

It must take ages to get anywhere in that dang castle. Dracula must use Segways

  • Lady Bathory

I like animation once in a while. Let’s see what kind of animation it’s going to be, like Japanese anime or Western (for the lack of a better word) style… ‘Dark medieval fantasy’ sounds pretty good, though.

  • DarklingMagick

The only thing annoying is how they are using Tepes as a last
name. Tepes literally just means “Impaler.” Impaler was not his name.
His chosen surname (historically) was Drakulya (and alternate
spellings). Everyone thinks that was the nickname but no, it was the
chosen surname. Vlad the third of Wallachia loathed his cousins and
wanted to honor his and his father’s membership to the Order of the
Dragon. So Dracula (meaning son of the dragon) is the surname. Tepes
is a name given posthumously. It means “impaler.” No one ever signed
their name “Impaler.” His full name was Vladilsaus Drakulya.
Otherwise I have to admit the new poster looks really, really good.
