I must admit, I started Mass Effect 1, but didn’t get very far. I was fairly bored, and got tired of walking. I mean, I have asthma and I’m lazy. So it was inevitable. I’ve heard nothing but awesome about Mass Effect 2, so I think I’ll start there. But from what I’ve seen so far Mass Effect 3 is going to take the cake. Eat it, then shoot the remains out into space.
The demo releasing this Valentines Day will be downloadable on the PC, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360. Yes, all 3 at the same time! No waiting if you have one or the other. The demo starts with the Reapers attack on Earth and the opening sequence of the game. So if you can’t deal with starting the game off and not being able to just keep going, you might be better off holding out until the game comes out. READ MORE
Xbox Live Gold Members rejoice because The Darkness II demo is out now, for you and you only. On January 24th the demo will release for the Playstation Network, the PC via Steam, and all Xbox Live Members.
The original Darkness came out back in 2007, quite a long time to wait for a sequel. However February 7th is right around the corner, so it’s time to start getting excited. Try the demo out and let us know what you think by commenting thousands of times below. READ MORE
I’ve been going back through Alan Wake, achievement whoring, and because watching the video for Alan Wake’s American Nightmare got me super excited to play the game once more. Though it isn’t directly tied into the original game, I’m still excited to dive back into the darkness. Game Trailer’s Geoff Keighley got to talk to Remedy Games’ Ozz (Head Of Franchise Development) about the upcoming wake game that’s due out next month on Xbox Live Arcade. The game looks better than ever, and even more amazing is how good it looks as a downloadable title. We’ll be seeing a few more kick ass weapons to fight away the darkness with. Check out the video below.
As we all mentally prepare ourselves for our return to a more horrifying Resident Evil when Revelations releases on February 7, some new details have come out regarding the creatures we’ll be fighting and the possibility of a demo. The monsters definitely rank up there in the what-the-fuck-is-that category that Resident Evil 4′s Regenerators fell into — seriously, those things terrified me — so that’s good for a game that promises a return to the series’ roots in survival horror.
Most of these things look like they were ripped from Silent Hill; the Ooze in particular is something I could easily picture lurking in a foggy alley. Head past the break some details on a possible demo and a look at some of the ass-ugly creatures we’ll be fighting when Revelations hits next month. READ MORE
The makers of Dungeon Defenders: First Wave have just officially released gameplay footage for their next project, Afterlife: Ground Zero. Apparently, footage from the game was leaked a few days ago so its developer, Trendy Entertainment decided to jump on and give us something a little more presentable. The demo that you can check out below is playing on an iPad 2, and it looks pretty incredible.
To me, the most exciting thing about this game is it gives me the chance to ask strangers if that’s a pulsating tentacle in their pocket or if they’re just happy to see me. Get it? It’s funny because there are weird tentacles hanging off the buildings, and some of us also have tentacles in our pants. I love explaining bad jokes. No word on a release date, mainly because this game is still a long ways off, but if this tech demo represents what the unpolished version looks like I can’t wait to see the final product. Head past the break for a few more details. READ MORE
Catherine is a difficult game to explain because it’s just so bizarre. What I know is you control the 32 year-old Vincent who’s slutty ways has led him to cheat on his girlfriend Katherine with a girl he met at a bar named… Catherine. The only problem is he doesn’t remember what he did with Catherine the night prior so he has to fight through nightmares filled with puzzles and demonic sheep to remember, but he has to manage this before the time runs out and he… well, you get a Game Over, I don’t actually know what happens. Maybe Vincent decides women aren’t worth the hassel so he falls in love with a chiseled man-god named Cam, only to cheat on him with Kam, starting the whole process over again. That would be an amazing sequel.
Where was I? Oh, right. Catherine. Strangely enough, this game looks pretty great. It mixes a little of the puzzle-platforming I love so dearly with the horrors of sex and debauchery I experience on a day-to-day basis. This is totally my type of game, and if it sounds like your cup o’ tea I suggest checking out the newly released demo. READ MORE
I enjoyed Far Cry 2 for its visuals, massive open world and because it gave me the ability to pretend like I was a complete badass on the run from every other human on the planet. The next game looks to be tightening up the story a bit, which is a good thing since I don’t remember a single thing about the last game’s plot other than I must’ve done something to piss someone off since literally every person around me wanted me dead. The video below is a demo from E3 and it gives us a taste of what we can expect from the full game.
Side note: Dan Hay has one of the manliest voices I’ve ever heard. I don’t know about him, though he sounds like a wrestler/boxer/hitman, but I’m pretty sure his voice could kick my ass. Far Cry 3 doesn’t have a release date but we know it’s coming this year for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, and I’m very much looking forward to it. READ MORE
Duke has been running him mouth off a lot about being the shit. Well, his time is coming and he is going to have to put his skills where his mouth is. HOWEVER, the only way to get access to the demo, is to either pre-order the game (from select retailers not mentioned in the press release) or buy purchasing the Borderlands Game of the Year Edition on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 or PC. Those who get access to the demo are said to be members of the “First Access Club”. COOL. I haven’t been in a club since I was in the He-Man Women Hater’s Club.
The demo will be released June 3rd, and the game will officially be out June 10th on the PC, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360. READ MORE
Now, don’t go taking a hammer to the nearest wall but Red Faction: Armageddon has indeed been delayed. But fear not, while F.3.A.R.’s recent delay will make us wait another month, Armageddon is only getting pushed back a month. Maybe they’re afraid L.A. Noire will horde all the attention? Or perhaps they simply need more time for some last second spit and polish. Either way, June just keeps looking better.
The game’s demo is still on track for its May 3rd release and for the less mathematically inclined the new release dates are as follows: June 7th in the US and for everyone else you can expect it on June 10th. With Armageddon, Alice: Madness Returns (6/14), Shadows of the Damned (6/21), F.3.A.R. (6/24) and E3 (6/7-9), June has become one of the most exciting months of the year. READ MORE
The followup to one of my favorite games of 2009, Red Faction: Guerilla, is borrowing a little from the horror genre as it goes under the surface of Mars. From what we’ve seen of the game so far Armageddon looks to be shaping up quite nicely, and while I don’t know about you, I’m all for mixing a little Dead Space into my Red Faction mix. The game releases for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on May 31st for those of us in The States, June 2nd for the Aussies and a day later in the UK.
For the unfamiliar, Armageddon takes place on Mars five years after the events in Guerrilla. Unfortunately, the destruction of the Terraformer that kept Mars nice and sunny left its surface uninhabitable, forcing the colonists to burrow deep underground, kind of like Zerglings trying to escape a Siege Tank’s fire. Yeah, I just went full-on nerd there. Anyway, the colonists end up digging too deep unleashing an ancient race of scary bug aliens that look like the long lost cousins of the Reapers in Resident Evil 5 and all hell breaks loose. Fortunately, you play as Darius Mason, grandson of Alec (the main dude from the last game) and he’s totally equipped to kick tons of alien ass. READ MORE
In case you are the only person left on the planet who hasn’t played Blops, now is your chance. Probably because you don’t have any friends (because at least they would have the game), so you can now download a single player demo from the Playstation Network or Xbox Live Marketplace.
The single player mission known as WMD. Players defy death every step of the way as they infiltrate Soviet airspace in the SR-71, the most advanced, high-altitude, long range strategic aircraft imaginable. Deep behind enemy lines, players will engage in intense combat in the harshest of conditions, and scale a formidable, hidden enemy base perched atop a snow-filled mountain range. Playstation 3 gamers will also be happy to know that the First Strike DLC Pack will be released for Black Ops tomorrow, for $14.99. READ MORE
February 22nd is the date nerds. That’s the date Bioware will be releasing the Dragon Age 2 demo for mass consumption. Like most sequels, Dragon Age 2 plans to amp everything up, from smoother battles, to better graphics and an awesome new story line. Dragon Age 2 is out March 8th, for the PC, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360.
In the demo, players will venture through the game’s prologue, choosing from three different character classes. They’ll also learn more about Hawke and hone their skills and abilities that will make them the ultimate hero. After finishing the prologue, players will enter a key new location in the world of Dragon Age, Kirkwall, befriending Isabela, a romantic interest in the game who is also a deadly smuggler. Upon completion of the demo, players will unlock a special weapon, Hayder’s Razor, an ancient dwarven blade which increases health, mana, and combat abilities, in the full release of Dragon Age II.READ MORE
The 25th was a big day. Dead Space 2 was released, and has taken over most gamers lives. But for those holding out, and out of money the Bulletstorm demo will have to do. If you haven’t downloaded it, I at least recommend you give it a shot. There is a lot of brutal gore and ass kicking goodness that hits a level most games wont even go near.
After playing the demo, I had a great time, I only wish I could have tried with a friend. Screens from the demo past the break, the game releases February 22nd for the PC, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360. READ MORE
Thanks to EA we were given access to their multiplayer beta a few months back and I feel it’s safe to say that while it’s certainly not perfect, the soldiers versus Necromorphs multiplayer is far more than a last minute add-on. TJ was left with a “hmm, eh, well alright” feeling while I left with a surprisingly strong love for what I was able to see in the limited beta.
You should know, assuming you don’t already, that the demo for Dead Space 2 is out now and it shows off a bit of the game’s single-player side. You should also know my Xbox 360 measured it at a solid 1.23 GB so if your internet is as slow as mine I recommend clearing some time on your undoubtedly busy schedule to slap that thing on your hard drive. Go ahead and do that now, don’t worry about me, I can wait. Done? Well that was quick, now let’s talk about it. READ MORE
Don’t let the upcoming merry Christmas shenanigans bring you down because I’m here to spread horror cheer like Malaria! While most “normal” people are walking around spreading overrated things like charity and joy, I’ve made it my goal to use this time of year to celebrate the important things. Things like scary movies, terrifying games and Halloween decorations in lieu of the more “traditional” Christmas decor. And yes, my neighbors absolutely despise me.
So why don’t you grab a sippy cup filled with chocolate milk, take a seat and celebrate with me, because after the break we have a lot to be happy about. I don’t want to give too much away but let’s just say our favorite tomb raiding chick might be taking on the survival horror genre, and a demo for a certain strategic dismembering game will have a demo out later this month. For those of you who haven’t downloaded the Lost Planet 2 4 player co-op demo, well, shame on you. Shame on you straight to hell. Well you’ll have a chance to redeem yourself I suppose. Capcom will be releasing a 2nd demo. This one will throw you into the online Versus mode.
Up to 16 players going bananas on each other with all the weapons you can get your hands on. You’ll be thrown into the Turbulent Jungle map April 21 for Xbox 360 and April 22 for PlayStation 3. However, Capcom will be giving out vouchers as early as March 31st, so keep your eyes peeled if you want early access to the demo. Oh it gets better…. READ MORE
Yesterday we provided readers with a perfect review of the second issue in Brian Wood’s (“DMZ”) fantastic series of one-shots titled “DEMO” from Vertigo Comics, giving it a rare 5 skull rating. Now today we have a special 4 page sneak preview of the next issue in the series due out next month titled “VOLUME ONE LOVE STORY” that chronicles the life of a young woman who is obsessed with post-it notes, and the repercussions of what happens when the delicate balance of her system is sabotaged. Read on for the full preview.
At times it is tough to decide what is horror and what isn’t with so many titles “claiming” to be the scariest thing on the shelf, but very rarely do they ever deliver. To me a real horror story doesn’t seek to gross you out or make you have to turn your head in disgust, but one that grabs at something inside of you and twists it like a knife in the gut. If a story is an inherently human one then I can guarantee it will have my full attention. And that is why when I was told to check out the newest issue of Brian Wood’s (“DMZ”) “DEMO” titled “PANGS” by my buddy Mark, who swore up and down that I would “love the damn thing”, I decided to give the book a shot. I was promised a very dark, unnerving, and intimate look into the life of a cannibal, but not the type of cannibal you’d expect to find in a Wes Craven film…I wasn’t disappointed. Read on for the full review.
A demo track/video featuring the song “My Time” and KoRn in the studio seems to have been floating around the internet for a while, our friends at SMNnews posted a youtube copy and now recently we were sent this video from an anonymous user. It sort of oozes the old school dissonant noisy KoRn that some of you probably punched holes in your bedroom wall to after your parents took away your Super Nintendo, but I’m not sure Jonathan Davis is still angsty enough to pull it off. Read on to take a listen and let us know what you think.
KoRn will be playing the main stage at this years Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival alongside Rob Zombie, Lamb of God, and Five Finger Death Punch. READ MORE

The game releases the 16th of this month on the PC, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360. READ MORE
