New ‘Prometheus’ Clip Has Vickers Cornering David

By my count this is only the second actual clip released Ridley Scott’s Prometheus. Of course we’ve had a virtual ocean of trailers, teasers, virals, posters etc… but I believe this is the second actual clip. While it doesn’t spoil anything, it does whittle a way at the amount of footage you will actually be seeing for the first time when you hit the theaters.

“With ‘Prometheus,’ Scott creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. We almost went an entire day without posting on Ridley Scott’s Prometheus, but then some new pics popped up over at EW and we figured we’d throw a few your way. Most of the pics are fairly bland stuff we’ve seen before (from one angle or another), but a couple of images from their set visit managed to wrangle my attention and I’ve included them below. I particularly like the shot of Fassbender, Rapace and Tom Hardy look-a-like Logan Marshall-Green walking down that totally-unfamiliar-to-the-Alien-universe corridor.

PrometheusForumLand12612 Ridley Scott Talks Prometheus, Dont F*ck Around With The Gods!

Ridley Scott’s got a lot on his mind in Prometheus and a lot of really interesting things are beginning to trickle out in regard to his take on the material. Today an interesting piece hit over at the Sydney Morning Herald and it contains the following quote, which very much ties into what we’ve been hearing about the film’s evolutionary themes.

“I’ve got to check [for spoilers] very carefully here, but it is about the beginning of life and ’what if’. It’s a giant ’what if’. Has this ball that we’re sitting on right now been around here for three billion years or one billion? Either way, it’s a long f—ing time. It’s only our kind of arrogance that says ”We’re the first ones.” Are we the first hominids? I really, really, really doubt it. In recent memory or legend we keep talking about wonderful, weird things such as Atlantis – what is that? Where does that come from? Is that real, was it real, is it a memory, did it exist? And if that did exist, did it exist three quarters of a billion years ago? There’d be nothing left now. How was that created and who was it?”

Ridley Scott Surprised Alien Sequels Didnt Explore The Bigger Picture

The boys over in the UK at Empire Magazine have done some solid reporting getting Ridley Scott to finally open up about the Alien connection in Twentieth Century Fox’s forthcoming Prometheus, which is a prequel to Scott’s 1979 film that brought horror to the blackest depths of space. It all begins with the elusive Space Jockey, which is featured prominently in the trailers:

“ years! Years, years, years,” he stresses, of Alien‘s space traveller subplot. “I always wondered when they did [Aliens] 2,3 and 4 why they hadn’t touched upon that, instead of evolving into some other fantastic story. They missed the biggest question of them all: who’s the big guy? And where were they going? And with what? Why that cargo? There’s all kinds of questions.”

Another question for Scott is the film’s rating. He hints that the violence may have been toned-down enough to facilitate a PG-13 rating, but intriguingly suggests that the impact will match the R-grade shocks of Alien and Aliens. “The question is, do you go for the PG-13, [which] financially makes quite a difference, or do you go for what it should be, which is R? Essentially, it’s kinda R.” He adds, “It’s not just about the blood, it’s about ideas that are very stressful. I’m not an idiot, but I’ll do everything I can to get the most aggressive film I can.”

What’s so interesting about the rating conversation is that I literally forgot that was an issue during pre-production. In fact, Fox allegedly nearly shut down the film during a quarrel with Scott. I’m kind of glad that none of us are harping on the fact that it will be PG-13. Looking at the footage, I personally don’t even care anymore. You? READ MORE

While we’d never sink as low as to act like WE discovered the following, the online community has cracked a code that unveiled a brand new look at Prometheus, albiet one that’s not so special.

Clicking over to ProjectPrometheus.com/Eridu and typing in “tell abu shahrain” revealed the above image from Ridley Scott’s Alien prequel that blasts into space June 8.

Eridu references one of the oldest cities in the world and ties into the Weyland Corporation viral campaign.

Ridley Scott’s Prometheus is finally unleashing the deluge we’ve only been receiving hints of so far.

And it looks amazing. No xenomorphs, but there are creatures, and Space Jockeys and – more importantly – the sense that whatever Prometheus turns out to be will be inspired. No matter what the label. Though, technically, it’s impossible for it not to be an Alien prequel. Even if there aren’t any xenomorphs, it’s most certainly in the same universe. I personally think it’s a good thing they might not be in the movie, there’s no way Scott can recreate the terror of the first film by using a creature that’s been drug through the mud after six installments (if you’re counting the AVP stuff, which totally neutered the creature).

It looks like someone used Weyland Industries’ technology to leak the second trailer for Prometheus, Ridley Scott’s Alien prequel taking off June 8. Below you’ll find all sorts of dazzling new imagery from the flick starring Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Sean Harris, Guy Pearce, Kate Dickie, Rafe Spall, Logan Marshall-Green, Benedict Wong, Emun Elliott, Ben Foster, Patrick Wilson and Ian Whyte.

In other news, all of Twentieth Century Fox’s alleged fake fansites have all simultaneously crashed (what an odd coincidence) as the official website for Weyland Industries has released the entire timeline for their company.

Which I suppose is a step up in this world of commercials for commercials. At least we’re getting a commercial for a 2 minute commercial as opposed to a 1 minute one. This is a clear case where knowing what’s in the Kool-Aid doesn’t really stop you from drinking it.

A new image from Ridley Scott’s Prometheus hit the web today. And while it’s similar to a shot that can be glimpsed in the teaser, it has a really clean composition that makes it pop. It also reveals an interesting new component.

Allowing us to take a closer look at the shot, it reveals a human form at the center of its dazzling light show. Perhaps this is a visual indicator of some of Prometheus‘ ostensible “who made who” themes. And it all takes place inside an unmistakably Giger-esque design.

[OMFG] Prometheus Character Peter Weyland Speaks At TED2012!

The 1,350 person audience at TED2012 – the flagship conference for the non-profit dedicated to “Ideas Worth Spreading” – was just treated to the following mind-blowing short video conceived and designed by Ridley Scott and Damon Lindelof, directed by Luke Scott and created exclusively for the TED2012 audience.

The video features Guy Pearce as Peter Weyland, speaking 10 years earlier than the events of upcoming film Prometheus. While it’s not a scene from the movie – it does provide an intriguing look into what may lay ahead, as well as important backstory into the epic mythology explored in the movie. It’s huge as it gives us a timeline for the Alien prequel dating it at 2032/33 (as the video takes place 10 year prior). Ridley Scott Conceiving Prometheus Sequel

Ridley Scott’s return to Alien franchise was originally conceived as a trilogy all stitched together to set up his iconic 1979 sci-fi horror pic.

With the prequel Prometheus hitting theaters June 8 in a flurry of hype, Scott is once again thinking “sequel”.

In speaking to EW about the upcoming Blade Runner, Scott reveals that he’s “also thinking about what the hell I might do for a ‘Prometheus 2.’” as he knocks the wood coffee table and grins.

Those keeping up with the Prometheus mythos know that the film is supposed to set up exactly how the dead Space Jockey crash landed on the planet. This still leaves plenty of years (or millions of years) to explore. READ MORE

Bet You Forgot Guy Pearce Was In ‘Prometheus,’ Too

Even though Guy Pearce was confirmed for a role in Ridley Scott’s Prometheus, there’s been little to no mention of him. He spoke with MTV today and explained, “I’m only [in the film] for a minute, but it was a real honor to work with Ridley [Scott], to see what was going on,” he said. “I think Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace and Charlize Theron and everybody will do a really spectacular job.”

In addition, Scottish actress Kate Dickie spoke with the Daily Star about her role and reveals some major spoilers. “Kate plays a tough first officer called Mudow, who needs to help her fellow crew members become acclimatised to their removal from cryo-sleep after a long space journey which ends on an apparently barren planet,” she explained in the scan courtesy of AvP Galaxy. “With their muscles wasted from five years without use, she helps them to get fit – only for them to fall victims to horrible creatures that begin stalking them for food.”

Noomi Rapace is blowing up here in the States, and frankly, I love it! The star of the original Girl With The Dragon Tattoo trilogy and Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows is heading to space to learn of mankind’s origins in Ridley Scott’s Prometheus. Not much is known about her role, but USA Today premiered a new photo center-piecing the Swedish actress.

Its a Space Jockey Extravaganza in Prometheus Screengrabs! Updated in HD!

Ok, so the trailer for Prometheus is finally online. We’ve reveled in it at least once; some of us have watched it 14 times (I know, I’m sick in the head). On the surface it’s just (just?!) a mind-blowing sci-fi horror flick that taps into the soul of Ridley Scott’s 1978 Alien, but it’s actually much, much more…

From the pods to the Space Jockey rising out of the ground with his enormous canon (obviously a moment from the film’s finale, which will set the stage for the big discovery in Alien), there’s no doubt in my mind that this Damon Lindelof-penned flick is an authentic prequel to said film.

Thumbing frame-by-frame through the trailer we’ve uncovered quite a few freeze-frame treasures that range from the aforementioned Space Jockey rising out of the ground to the head of a Jockey sitting on a bed, and even what looks to be a device that channels the alien race. It looks like all sorts of awesome.

Shot in 3-D, Prometheus launches to the depths of space on June 8. READ MORE

Wanna See a Dead Space Jockey From Prometheus?

I seriously don’t think I’ve been excited for a film this much since Freddy vs Jason came out back in 2003. I’ve been so pumped for Prometheus – the prequel to Ridley Scott’s Alien – that I’ve been gazing over images and looking at all of the teaser clips over and over again. Obsessed is an understatement, I’ve transcended into creepy (I’m a Prometheus stalker? I’m OK with that.)

The point, yes, yes, the point. While other horror sites will discover what I’m about to show you in about a month and eventually report it as “fresh” news (see The Darkest Hour alien images), we discovered that one of the images released by Twentieth Century Fox carries a look at a dead Space Jockey…and it was right under all of our noses! Take a look inside for a cropped look at the still and say your prayers for the alien God.
