Soilwork Unveil Album Artwork And Track List For ‘The Living Infinite’

Nuclear Blast Records artist Soilwork have unveiled the album artwork and track list for their upcoming double-album The Living Infinite, which will be released March 5th, 2013. The album was produced by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Amon Amarth, Bloodbath) and the artwork was designed by Mnemic‘s Mircea Eftemie Gabriel.

Gabriel shares, “Seven years ago, I created the artwork for the Stabbing The Drama album and I can’t believe how time flies! Here we are, with sexy gray hairs, working with my friends in Soilwork again. This time, we built the cover around a maritime concept, aiming for something direct and symbolic. I believe we achieved that quite well. From my creative deck, I salute you and say: ‘Long Live The Living Infinite.’

The bands states, “After commissioning some pretty elaborate covers for the last couple of records, we decided to try something more sober and design-oriented for The Living Infinite. Who better to call than the man who created the iconic Stabbing The Drama cover? Mircea Gabriel Eftemie is not only a close friend but also an incredible graphic designer. We’re all stoked about his work which is different from anything Soilwork has ever done and perfectly suits the elegant oceanic concept of The Living Infinite. Enjoy folks!

Surrounded By Monsters Drops Off Tour With The Bunny The Bear Due To “Disrespectful” Attitude

Nuclear Blast Records artist Surrounded By Monsters has dropped off their current tour with headliners The Bunny The Bear due to what the band calls “disrespectful and confrontational” issues. An official statement was released by the band as well as a video explanation (which is after the jump).

The official statement reads, “We, Surrounded By Monsters, regret to inform our fans that we have decided to drop the remaining dates on The Bunny The Bear tour. This is a decision made by Surrounded By Monsters and not anyone else. We are very sorry to those who were planning on coming to see us at the scheduled shows, but we refuse to continue to support a band like The Bunny The Bear. From the start of this tour The Bunny The Bear has been disrespectful and confrontational to ticket holders by calling people in the audience derogatory remarks, to canceling sets because not enough people were in the audience for them to care. This is not something that we as a band support or endorse and we will not tolerate it any further. Once again, we are very sorry to those who were coming out to see us on this tour. We hate canceling shows, but under these circumstances we feel it is our only option. It is the fans and their support that make a bands growth and life possible, and by no means should The Bunny The Bear think they have the right to treat people the way they do. No band should EVER put themselves above their fans.READ MORE

Testament Announce N. American Headlining Tour

Bay Area thrash metal band Testament has announced an early 2013 headlining tour through much of N. America. Support will be coming from Overkill, Flotsam And Jetsam, and Australian band 4Arm.

It’s a thrill to announce our upcoming dates with Overkill and Flotsam And Jetsam,” commented guitarist Alex Skolnick. “It’s a tour that brings together three different metal bands from three different regions: West Coast, East Coast and Southwest. All three bands sound very different from one another yet are highly compatible. All have been around the block (and the world) a few times and all have managed to keep a sound that feels current. This tour will be a ‘must see’ for fans who remember the early days of thrash/speed metal as well as those whose age is younger than the genre itself.

The band is also making a VIP package available that includes a great deal of swag and a chance to win a Eric Peterson signature Dean guitar signed by the band. Check out all the tour dates and VIP package details below. READ MORE

Nuclear Blast Asks, “Which Band Do You Want To See On Battle Band?”

Nuclear Blast Records is asking fans to let them know which of their artists you’d like to see on kuuluu Interactive’s Battle Band, which is available for free in the App Store. The game, which looks suspiciously like Angry Birds with a metal once over, centers on a band that arrives late to their gig only to find that a group of impostor wannabes are playing their set. So what do you do? Well, naturally, you bring the stage crashing down upon them with various physics based attacks. You can watch a trailer for the game below.

Look, I’m all for a good game and I can see how this is kinda harmless. But still, I do have to say that something feels a little off about the concept of this game. You wanna smash some instruments? While I hate that idea (simply because I love instruments and would never want to see them harmed), that’s pretty harmless. But bringing down a stage onto people? Lest anyone forget, people have died that way. So yeah, I feel slightly uncomfortable about the game.

That being said, I’ll give it a shot and see what it’s about. Oh, and who do I want in there? How about some Meshuggah and some Graveyard. That’d be pretty badass. READ MORE

Soilwork Post Studio Footage Of Guitar Recording

Soilwork singer Bjorn “Speed” Strid has posted a video of new guitarist David Andersson laying down a guitar track for an as-of-yet untitled song on the upcoming album The Living Infinite. The riffing going on is pretty awesome and encompasses exactly what I’m expecting and hoping for from the release. There’s lots of low-string chugging as well as high-string melodic passages. The video can be seen below.

The Living Infinite, the band’s ninth studio release, will be a double album. Jens Bogren (Opeth, Amon Amarth, Bloodbath) has been tapped as producer and the album will also mark the recording debut of long-time touring guitarist David Andersson (Night Flight Orchestra). More information from Strid can be found here.

The album has an undetermined 2013 release date. READ MORE

Soilwork’s New Album ‘The Living Infinite’ Will Be A Double Album

Swedish melodic death metal band Soilwork have announced that their next studio album The Living Infinite will feature TWO CDs, not one. Jens Bogren (Opeth, Amon Amarth, Bloodbath) has been tapped as producer. The album will also mark the recording debut of long-time touring guitarist David Andersson (Night Flight Orchestra).

Singer Bjorn “Speed” Strid explains, “So here’s the scoop. Me and the boys have been waiting to share this for quite some time now: The Living Infinite will be a double album! A REAL double album, in the true sense of the word, which means no fillers and no left-overs.

I’ve been wanting to do this for a while and I proposed the idea to the rest of the guys in the band, during our festival tour last summer. Everybody liked the title The Living Infinite and also the idea of working towards the goal of releasing a double album. David Andersson was already playing with us last summer, so he has also been a part of this goal from the start. I feel very excited and proud that we’ve managed to find the inspiration and dedication it takes to create somewhat of a conceptual double album, especially since it’s dealing with a lot of existential questions.

We would also like to reveal a brand new band shot by Hannah Verbeuren Photography [below]. We are currently hard at work in the studio, putting this beast on tape. Things are sounding incredibly good so far. So excited about this and can’t wait to share the awesomeness with you all!

I was a huge fan of 2010′s The Panic Broadcast so I’m very eager to hear this next album. READ MORE

Children Of Bodom Sign To Nuclear Blast Records

Finnish metal sensations Children Of Bodom have returned to Nuclear Blast Records after several albums with Spinefarm records. The band has also confirmed that they will be releasing a new album next year.

Alexi Laiho states, “We had a good, productive and long run with Spinefarm Records for fifteen years and now it’s simply just time for a change. I’m absolutely stoked to start the new chapter of COB’s career with Nuclear Blast and look forward to working with them.”

“Personally, I am so excited to get to work with Nuclear Blast again,” adds COB bass player Henkka T. Blacksmith. “We have such good memories from the beginning of our career with them. We know the people already and we know how committed they are in doing metal!”

Nuclear Blast Europe A&R rep Jaap Wagemaker shares: “15 years ago we were introduced to a very young band from Finland who blew us away with their track ‘Deadnight Warrior’ from their debut album Something Wild – and their music was indeed something wild! Fast-tapping guitar work combined with incredible keyboards and angry vocals… it was the start of the career of Children Of Bodom. Nuclear Blast released their first three albums outside of Finland: Something Wild, Hatebreeder, and Follow The Reaper, albums that became classics in the history of metal. Unfortunately, after the third album, we went separate ways but we have always been following them and stayed in contact. Children Of Bodom became a very big band worldwide and now the time has come to welcome them back home! We at Nuclear Blast are very happy to see Children Of Bodom rejoining the Nuclear family and are looking forward to working their next albums. You can be sure that ‘something wild’ will come your way!” READ MORE

Meshuggah Remixes Their Own Track ‘I Am Colossus’

It’s hard to take a track so evil, so ploddingly heavy and vile as Meshuggah‘s I Am Colossus and make it any more intense. And while it can be argued that the remix the band has released doesn’t have the same metal intensity, it does have something more mechanically sinister in its electronic approach. Either way, the end of the story is that this remix is something intense and highly recommended! Check it out below along with a link to a free download.

Meshuggah Breaks Nuclear Blast USA Records
Great news!! These are the words directly from Meshuggah as they were told that their latest album Koloss (review) has become not only the highest in 1st week sales but also the highest Billboard debut in Nuclear Blast USA history. Selling almost 18.5k copies, Koloss debuted at number 17 on the Billboard 200.
For a band as brutal, heavy, and nonstandard, this is an amazing achievement. I’m beyond excited for the guys and can’t wait to see how this impacts their career.
