Heretic’s Fork
No good can come from an opposed bi-pronged fork and no one realized that as well as the poor suckers it was used on. The apostate would be suspended from the ceiling with the fork affixed to his/her neck. The idea was that sleep deprivation would cause confessions and if they fell asleep the Heretic’s Fork would pierce their breast bone or throat. People hung for days.
I envision a Saw situation where a person who was arrogant towards others their entire life being subjected to this. I can hear it now…”You’ve spent years coasting through life with your nose in the air…”
