1. Dracula Untold (Universal Pictures)

Dracula Untold is the worst movie of the year for one simple reason: this bloated and soulless CGI mess is supposed to be the first film in the new Avengers-style Universal Monsters franchise. From the tired period piece setting to the overtly generic Dracula (Luke Evans), Untold doesn’t deliver on its promise to tell us good “untold” story. Whether it was the script or Evans’ performance, Dracula isn’t likable my any means, and isn’t going to be the horror “superhero” Universal hopes he’ll be. Oh, and the connective tissue finale that was crammed in at the last second, that’s proof enough that you should all be very worried about the future of the Universal Monsters universe. I’m already considering it DOA.
