Blind Guardian – Imaginations From the Other Side
Still with the power metal genre, another band who lead the charge was Blind Guardian. Combining more of a symphonic sound with the already melodious guitar and strong vocals, the group’s 1995 album Imaginations from the Other Side is another landmark in the genre. Born In A Mourning Hall was actually the first song that I’d ever heard from the band, which only lead to greater things. While the group has always had a foot in fantasy with it’s lyrics, Born In A Mourning Hall differs in the fact that it’s full of double meanings and allusions, focusing on the hypocrisy of certain evangelical TV preachers and Big Brother. It’s vocalist Hansi Kürsch at his best.
