The Lazarus Effect Trailer
The most recent offender is The Lazarus Effect, which was just released two weeks ago. After having seen the film (which was the catalyst for me writing this post), I can tell you that Donald Glover does in fact die in that metal cabinet after it crushes him. The Lazarus Effect runs at an extremely brief 83 minutes including credits, so I can kind of understand that they didn’t have much to work with. But when your main cast is comprised of five characters and you’ve already given away the second act twist in the trailer, don’t spoil a main character’s death. Or at least pull a switcheroo on us (like Final Destination 5 trailer with the massage table scene and the Lasik scene) and don’t actually show us how the character dies.
