Grizzly [1976]
As an outright plot-lifting film at points — released less than a year after Jaws — Grizzly unapologetically borrows the Jaws formula in such obvious ways that it’s hard not to roll your eyes (Christopher George’s Chief Michael Kelly is Roy Scheider’s character to a T.) Curiously, it’s worth debating whether the film’s eventual cult status or less-than-subtle homage tactics have allowed it to remain relevant for so long. Either way, it’s admittedly hard not to have a little fun with this Jaws-on-land variation, despite the mirror image plot devices used throughout.
