I know we had that terrible and entirely forgettable pre-make a few years back but let’s pretend that didn’t happen, okay?
To continue this story, I propose something really wild and dangerous: Go big, go epic, go CGI-galore (at certain points, mind you), and turn it into something like World War Z. Show me cities that have to be carpeted with bombs to burn the thousands of “Things”. Show me people living in solitude and shooting anyone, man, woman, or child, that comes near them because of their paranoid fear. Show me epic action sequences where dozens of “Things” are chasing after the main characters who are using flamethrower turrets to drive them back.
Yes, keep practical FX to a max, especially for any closeups. But since Blair foresaw the world coming to an end within a few years, tell me that story. Show me the horror of this alien virus/being sweeping across the globe like a goddamn plague.
