Tusk
Kevin Smith is an incredibly polarizing director, but I’ve thoroughly enjoyed both of his forays into horror (yes, even Red State, which I think it a pretty good film). Tusk, while incredibly goofy (Johhny Depp, anyone?), does have moments of total horror that I find fascinating. The walrus reveal provoked audible gasps (and laughs) in the theater I saw it in. Michael Parks gives a great performance, Justin Long does fine making you hate his character, and Depp is the dealbreaker for anyone who watches the film (I loved him in it). The walrus fight in the climax is ridiculously entertaining (if a little too on-the-nose with Fleetwood Mac’s “Tusk” playing in the background) and if you can put up with Smith’s sense of humor, you just might enjoy it.
