3. Psycho: The Complete Collection (Via Vision Entertainment)
Via Vision Entertainment continues to surprise as they earn a second spot on this list with Psycho: The Complete Collection. When they say complete they really mean it as this set has the six Psycho movies (Psycho, Psycho II, Psycho III, the TV movie Bates Motel, Psycho IV; The Beginning, 1998 Psycho remake) and the 2010 documentary The Psycho Legacy. It is important to point out that Bates Motel is a DVD, however.
I love Psycho. I think it’s one of the greatest films ever made, period. Because it’s so great I think the sequels tend to get overlooked a bit. They may not be great, groundbreaking films like Hitchcock’s original, but they’re plenty fun in their own right. Having them all together in one collection is fantastic. Plus as far as I know this set is the only way you can currently get Psycho IV on Blu-ray.
Much like they did with their Harryhausen set, Via Vision made sure to include plenty of special features to help you become an expert on all things Psycho. All together this collection comes on 8 discs, 5 of which are Blu-ray and 3 DVDs.
