5. The Hallow

We so rarely get legitimately horrifying version of fairy tales anymore. If you’ve been needing something to fill that void in your life, Irish horror film The Hallow is your movie. Pitched as a cross between Straw Dogs and Pan’s Labyrinth, The Hallow tells the tale of Adam (Joseph Mawle, Game of Thrones) and Claire (the highly underrated Bojana Novakovic, Drag Me to Hell, Devil) who move to a small Irish town with their newborn baby, where evil fairy tale creatures await them. Though not a gory film, The Hallow features several look-away-from-the-screen moments, particularly in regards to one or two moments regarding eyes. What’s even better is that it tells a moving story about a couple’s fight to save their child at all costs.
