It Follows
I hear the groans as I type out this article. I get it, many don’t understand what makes this movie the talk of the town and frankly, I don’t see how. Yes, there is a problem with logic as far as the threat goes. Yes, the teens do stupid things to try and kill it but how smart do you think a majority of teens are these days? It Follows is not a perfect film but it tries its ass off and we get the makings of a pretty decent movie. The soundtrack alone is impeccable, it calls back to those that came before and interweaves its own sound. And if the great Italian horror filmmakers have taught us anything, it’s that music is 80% of everything.
For me, It Follows was a refreshing bit of filmmaking. It took a chance on some things, not always packing the punch we hoped for, but really giving it all into the process. The look, the sound, it’s all great despite the flaws.
