Jess’ Top 5 Favorite Horror Flicks of 2015

We Are Still Here

I didn’t get around to We Are Still Here until much later in the year so I had been listening to the hype for months. While I don’t think I loved it quite as much as some did, I had a lot of fun with it. The indie low-budget churns out a heartfelt story of parents Anne (Barbara Crampton) and Paul (Andrew Sensenig) who escape the city to deal with the unexpected death of their son. Once settled into their country home, Anne begins to sense a presence with them and convinces herself that it’s their son. Of course, it’s not, enter Larry Fessenden and Lisa Marie (not that one) as their psychic friends. We Are Still Here is a simple movie that challenges traditional haunted house tropes. If fun, it’s creepy, the effects aren’t great but the story and characters more than make up for that.
