Welcome to the third of four Best of 2015 lists I will be doing. Previously I ranked my favorite Blu-ray Collections and Double Feature releases of the year and today I’m counting down my five favorite Steelbook releases of 2015.
Steelbooks were one of the first really cool, collectible editions of Blu-rays to start hitting the market and I immediately fell in love with them. They’ve always reminded me of the old Anchor Bay tin edition DVD releases. For the most part Steelbook editions are identically to their standard release counterparts; they just come in a special case and usually have new artwork. In more recent years that artwork has moved from outside the case to inside as well. For a collector like me, this is very important.
These days a ridiculous amount of Steelbooks are released. Stores and websites get their own versions making it really hard to keep up with. I still manage to pick up quite a few every year however, so I’ve decided to rank my five favorites that I picked up in 2015. Enjoy!
