An easy contender for the biggest surprise hit of 2014, this Kickstarter success tale is body horror at its finest. Sara (Alex Essoe, a revelation) will do anything for a role, and that willingness is put to the test when she auditions for a role in The Silver Scream, which is actually being filmed by a religious cult that worships the god Astraeus. Kevin Kölsch’s and Dennis Widmyer’s film would have made even Cronenberg proud.*
I assume this to be true, but as much as I may want to, I do not personally know David Cronenberg.
