8 Blu-ray Discs Every Horror Fan Must Own!

Best Horror Blu-Ray Discs

Everyone has websites whose opinions they trust unconditionally. For some of you it may be Bloody Disgusting (thank you!), but I’m not naïve. I’m fully aware that there are tons of sites out there that people rely on to help with their movie-watching and Blu-Ray-purchasing decisions. I have a bookmark labeled “Entertainment News” with about eight websites that I check daily for news and reviews (and yes, Bloody Disgusting is one of those sites). When it comes to Blu-Rays, I find no site to be as trustworthy as Blu-Ray.com.

This isn’t a paid advertisement for that site, of course. I’m just trying to let you know where I picked the entries on this list from (the scores listed are from the reviews on that site). They upload multiple new Blu-Ray reviews daily and it is an incredibly helpful resource when deciding which Blu-Rays to buy. They can be expensive, you know? I went through pages upon pages of their highest rated Blu-Rays and singled out the best horror releases on there. The scores are based on the video and audio quality of the disc, as well as the quality and quantity of extras present on the disc. The eight films below are some of the highest rated horror Blu-Rays on the site and thus should be a part of every horror fan’s Blu-Ray collection.

Alien

Video: 5/5
Audio: 5/5
Extras: 5/5

Technically, the entire Alien Anthology is worth a purchase, but Ridley Scott’s first film earns the highest marks all across the board (Aliens came a close second but only earned a 4 in the video category). Besides the outstanding video and audio quality (the sound design is a thing of wonder, though), Alien boasts an exhaustive amount of extras. There are hours upon hours of bonus features present on this disc. You’d be a fool not to give this one a purchase. Or just get the whole anthology. It’s only $25 on Amazon.
