Guillermo del Toro’s first film of the 21st century comes to Blu-Ray courtesy of (again) Criterion. The video transfer was overseen by del Toro and the director of photography himself, making for a spectacular image. del Toro’s participation in the release is what makes it so special. All of the special features feel more personal than special features on other Blu-Ray releases (which makes sense, since del Toro has frequently called The Devil’s Background his most personal film).
