5. The Others (2001)
Not as intense as the other movies on my list – there is no gore or freakish-looking possessed people – but there is something about this movie that plays like a storybook. It grabs your attention from the very first line, “Are you sitting comfortably?” The movie feels very much like someone reading you a story as you are tucked away in bed. A classic haunting story as seen from another point of view.
