1. Alien
Though released in 1979, ‘Alien’ was THE movie responsible for my childhood nightmares. What I love about ‘Alien’ is that it’s not so much the “crazy in-your-face blood everywhere” that made me terrified (though there are plenty of graphic scenes), but rather the ongoing uncertainty about Alien’s whereabouts on the spaceship. The fear and anticipation of seeing Alien around the corner down a long hall made me tremble for, well, many years.
