2. Poltergeist
It probably didn’t help that I watched ‘Poltergeist’ by myself, sitting in front of a television set. This one always struck a very frightening chord for me – something about the normal family, normal neighborhood, normal everything – until – bam! The atmosphere in this film, in particular that damn TV static, was so utterly uncomfortable and terrifying that it almost certainly damaged my childhood a bit.
