3. The Shining
Pretty hard not to be frightened out of one’s mind as a child after watching ‘The Shining’. I mean, seriously – this has to be one of the scariest films ever made. Again, it’s all about the atmosphere (the weird, weird atmosphere) and also the brilliant acting – I don’t know if it’s the actual movie that scared me more or the thought of Jack Nicholson really being this person in real life and coming to get us all with his axe as we hide in our bathrooms.
