Yesterday we posted that Olivia Jackson, a stuntwoman who has worked on some of the biggest recent Hollywood films, including The Force Awakens and Mad Max: Fury Road, would need to get her left arm amputated due to lingering issues after a horrible accident sustained on the set of Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. One of the comments on that article came from BD reader M. Knepper, who asked, “Is there anyway we can set up a fund raiser for her? Without her, some seriously cool scenes in film wouldn’t have happened.”
Since then, I have been contacted by someone who is part of United49, a group of “stunt friends” of Olivia’s and they have a GoFundMe page that is raising funds to help support her recovery. Additionally, I was told that they are also looking for a specialist, “…who can try to save Olivia from having her arm amputated.”
Whether or not this is possible – it all depends on the extent of damage – it’s wonderful that people are coming together for Jackson, who has endured horrible pains. The GoFundMe page aims to raise £100,000 and has already gotten nearly £36,000 as of this article.
We can only hope that this money helps give Olivia peace of mind and potentially other options for her road to recovery. No matter what, she is in our thoughts and we constantly wish the best for her.
