‘Godzilla’: Here’s What Japan Looked Like Last Night During the Film’s Opening

While we’re going to have to wait for FUNimation to release here in the States, Toho’s Godzilla: Resurgence opened last night in Japan.

And in typical Bloody Disgusting fashion, we have you covered. Our very own Jay Hawkinson, who has covered Japanese horror releases for us over the past decade, flew out for the film’s opening night. He documented his journey on Twitter, which included staying at Godzilla’s hotel and eating themed-chocolate. What did he think of the movie, however? We’ll find out soon enough.


Co-directed by Hideaki Anno (Evangelion) and Shinji Higuchi (Attack on Titan), and starring Hiroki Hasegawa, Yutaka Takenouchi, Satomi Ishihara, Rando Yaguchi, and Ren Osugi, “An unknown accident occurs in Tokyo Bay’s Aqua Line, which causes an emergency cabinet to assemble. All of the sudden, a giant creature immediately appears, destroying town after town with its landing reaching the capital. This mysterious giant monster is named “Godzilla”.
