A Nightmare on Elm Street
This one may surprise a few of you but I really stand by it. While much of the film had to take place in the darkness to cover the constraints of a low budget, there were some really magnificent little tricks that stood out and made the film feel all the more “real” in its nightmare. Tina floating through the air and then being dragged across the walls and ceiling of her bedroom are one example, while Glen being pulverized and fountained across his room is another.
Freddy may kill you in your dreams in A Nightmare on Elm Street but he felt very much a part of our world thanks to all the practical FX work!
