We exclusively broke the news to you last week that Constantin Film is deep into development on a new incarnation of the Wrong Turn series, which we noted was very likely going to be a remake. We also told you that Mike P. Nelson, who directed the awesome post-apocalyptic The Domestics for Orion, is set to direct the franchise’s reboot.
Today, Deadline confirmed what we already knew to be true, adding that franchise creator Alan McElroy has penned the remake, with Nelson indeed attached to direct.
“The updated version is described as a timely and topical meditation on society and its issues. A cross-country hiking expedition puts a group of friends in the land of an inclusive society, where they soon discover they are under a different rule of law, and may not be the victims they thought they were.”
Wrong Turn, released in 2003, spawned five sequels.
Constantin Film’s Robert Kulzer will produce, and Martin Moszkowicz will executive produce.
