‘Scream 7’ Is the First ‘Scream’ Movie to Hit $200 Million at the Box Office

scream $1 billion box office

Scream 7 quickly became a record-breaking installment in the 30-years-long saga when it became the highest grossing single installment in the franchise earlier this month, and the film just shattered another big time box office record for the Scream franchise.

With a current worldwide total of a whopping $204,095,676, Scream 7 is now officially the first and only movie in the Scream franchise to slash into $200 million at the box office!

$118.6 million of that was made domestically, with $85.4 million scared up internationally.

Wes Craven’s original Scream made $173 million worldwide by the end of its run back in 1996, and it had long been the highest grossing installment in the franchise. It’s now been dethroned by Kevin Williamson’s Scream 7, though we must note that the original Scream‘s 30-year-old box office numbers have not been adjusted for present day inflation for this article.

In addition to smashing through those two impressive records, Scream 7 is also the movie to propel the Scream franchise past 1 billion dollars at the worldwide box office.

Over the course of the past 30 years, the Scream movies have scared up $1,116,513,775 in theaters, making Scream one of only six horror franchises in history to hit that milestone!

Scream 7 is now available on Digital at home. The latest installment in the slasher saga will also be released on SteelBook, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on June 16 via Paramount.

It’s extremely likely at this point that we won’t have to wait very long for Scream 8, but Kevin Williamson has been making it clear that he has no plans on writing or directing.

Stay tuned for more on Scream 8 as we learn it.
