In case you’ve forgotten, The Thing got a video game and it was actually good! It didn’t live up to the legacy of the film — not by any stretch of the imagination — and the squad mechanics leave a lot to be desired. Even still, it successfully manages to be deeply unnerving and, at times, it’s pretty damn frightening.

This creepy little gem went under almost everyone’s radar, so if you missed it, I’d understand. Cryostasis: Sleep of Reason brings with it some Cold Fear vibes — another underappreciated horror game — as it takes place on a massive, abandoned Russian ship called the North Wind. You take on the role of meteorologist Alexander Nesterov, who’s tasked with finding out why the North Wind has been shipwrecked near the North Pole. Unfortunately for you, there’s no shortage of horrors waiting onboard to make finding the truth more than a little difficult.
