In August 2012, the founders of People Can Fly (Gears of War: Judgment, Bulletstorm) decided to join so many other experienced game makers and take a break from the increasingly risky and expensive business of making AAA video games in order to pursue something more intimate. That move inspired them to form a smaller studio comprised of veteran game designers looking to make the kinds of games they want to make. This is how The Astronauts was born.
With their debut game, a supernatural mystery game called The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, The Astronauts aims to create one of the most visually impressive video games I’ve ever seen, and that goes for AAA titles, too. Get real familiar with it in the lengthy video below.
