Telltale’s The Walking Dead: Season Two
I didn’t love The Walking Dead: Season Two as much as I did the first, but that only goes to show how strong the first season was. If season two can be relatively disappointing yet still manage to outshine most of the horror games of 2014, that’s an impressive feat.
Clem’s new group keeps things fresh while at the same time introducing a cast of characters that are flawed and human enough to be interesting. The Walking Dead is only successful when its characters elicit powerful emotions — positive or negative — because when that empathy, love, hatred, whatever, isn’t there, that’s when it all falls apart.
Season two was always good. It coasted a bit too much for my liking and it felt like the writers weren’t as willing to take risks as they were initially, but that problem is easy for me to not spend too much time focusing on when you have beautifully realized characters like Clem.
