Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly

When I was in High School, my love for all things Fatal Frame bordered on the obsessive until the games stopped releasing here in the States. I spent many a night staying up late for marathon sessions of Crimson Butterfly, a game whose mechanics I would later study in college. Fatal Frame II is special for a number of reasons, but the biggest may very well be the genius that is its titular combat mechanic, the Fatal Frame, which is only at its most effective when you’re willing to wait until the very last second to snap that pic.
I’m obviously glad there’s a publisher out there that’s still willing to throw money at this series so someone can play them, Fatal Frame does not deserve the slow death that’s been forced upon it by its Japan exclusivity.
