Sam – Trick ‘r Treat
I will be forever indebted to Michael Dougherty for his horror anthology film Trick ‘r Treat, which may very well be the most genuine love letter to Halloween. October is my favorite time of the year, because autumn is the cat’s pajamas and Halloween is unarguably the best of all the holidays.
The star of the film is Sam, a pint-sized personification of Halloween itself who roams about enforcing the holiday’s unwritten traditions, such as extinguishing jack o’lanterns before midnight and accepting candy from Dylan Baker, by punishing those who disrespect them.
Weaving him into the story would be easy, just have Scorpion refuse to hand out candy to some trick-or-treaters and that little bastard will send him right back to hell.
