Dead Island 2
On the lighter, sunnier, California-er side of things is Dead Island 2, or the game I hope will help me forget about the dropped balls and squandered potential that is the rest of this frustrating series.
Developed by Yager (Spec Ops: The Line), this sequel seems to be doing everything I wanted a sequel to the original Dead Island to do. It’s taking the things fans love about these games and making it all more colorful, and more over-the-top. It’s even introducing an actual sense of humor, which I hope will bring an end to the weirdly inconsistent tone of the first two games.
The race to release the first slasher game has been a fun one to watch, but it might soon be overshadowed by the race between Dead Island 2 and Dying Light to see who can make the better Dead Island. The first contender stepped into the ring in January, and you can bet its warm reception and impressive sales have raised a high bar for Dead Island 2.
Release Date: Q2 2015
