The Stage Fight
No time is wasted before Tor and Odin Anderson, sole members of the rock band The Old Gods of Asgard, are introduced to Alan. Like the Midnight Riders in Left 4 Dead 2, the Anderson brothers are so much more than another random addition to the game’s crowded cast of quirky characters. They have a purpose, and that purpose is revealed in episode four, when Alan finds himself outnumbered and surrounded by a veritable army of Taken.
Thankfully, Wake has a secret weapon, and that’s glorious pyrotechnics.
Temporary rock stardom isn’t something I’d expect to glean from a game that doesn’t require a plastic peripheral to play, but spraying crowds of Taken with fireworks from an empty concert stage while “Children of the Elder God” blares in the background is easily one of the most enjoyable things I’ve done in a video game.
