3. Vienna Master of Mary of Burgundy – Titus’ Conquest of Jeruzalem
I saw this oil on panel at the Museum of Fine Art in Ghent, Belgium recently and at a distance its an epic battle scene, but then you get close and its its torture, crucifixion, hands being chopped off and general carnage. The artist put the story from 70AD into his own age with european architecture to give a surrealist feeling as well.
