The recent news that the second Prometheus film was retitled into Alien: Paradise Lost sent a lot of shockwaves through the internet as it proved that the series, which already took place in the Alien universe, was going to connect with the original sci-fi/horror franchise, perhaps much sooner than we had all anticipated.

Now, in a new interview with HeyUGuys, Scott, delves deeper into the meaning of the title.

We’re heading back to why and how and when the beast was invented. We’ll go back into the backdoor of the very first ‘Alien’ I did 30 years ago,” Scott states.

Prometheus was a very polarizing film for audiences. Many praised the stunning visuals and intricately woven storyline while others felt somewhat cheated out of the Xenomorph experience that they were hoping for. Additionally, there were many suggestions and possible metaphors that caused endless speculation about the hidden meanings and stories behind the film.

Meanwhile, as we exclusively stated, Neill Blomkamp’s Alien film is still happening, but the timeline may have shifted to make room for Scott’s ambitious Prometheus undertaking.
