The Asylum, the production team behind such “hits” as Sharknado and “Z Nation”, has announced that it has started principal photography for their upcoming action zombie film that is currently titled XP-573.
“[XP-573] involves an elite military unit investigating a remote military compound that went dark ten years earlier after a top secret biological weapons program went haywire. Leading the unit is Lt. Gibson (Joey Lawrence). Assisting the team is a CIA virologist, Mikaela Usylvich (former WWE Diva Maryse Mizanin). Within hours of their arrival they discover a survivor, Col. Aiden Wexler (D.C. Douglas).”
D.C. Douglas is known to many video game fans as the voice of Resident Evil‘s Albert Wesker. He explains how the project came to be, saying, “About two years ago I asked my fans on social media if they’d be interested in my doing a zombie film with The Asylum – A film that would include many nods to the videogame series ‘Resident Evil’ and the character that brought me so many fans to begin with – Albert Wesker. So, it’s finally happening.”
XP-573 is directed by Nick Lyon and written by Jacob Cooney and Brandon Trenz. It is expected to come out mid-2016
