STX Entertainment, who distributed The Gift, has nabbed a possession thriller penned by Jeff Richard and Mark Bianculli.
Salem Village is described as an edgy period horror set fifteen years after the Salem witch trials. It begins when, “A young woman starts to show signs of possession. Desperate for the truth, the town’s elders put their faith into a man of science to uncover what is truly happening in Salem and put an end to the terrifying events plaguing the town.”
Salem Village draws comparisons to the Sundance smash, The Witch (pictured).
Marc Schmuger is producing for Global Produce. Sheroum Kim will be overseeing for STX.
STX is also releasing thrillers Desierto and Secret in Their Eyes, as well as the heavily buzzed-about first-person POV action/thriller Hardcore.
